German neo-Nazis are hosting Waffen-SS and Hitler youth veterans as inspirational speakers in an attempt to radicalize young people, Germany’s domestic security agency warned in a recent report.

A video game that uses footage of the Christchurch massacre to put Muslims in a gunman’s crosshairs. Memes featuring the face and weapons of the man charged in that New Zealand attack. Messages on online forums that glorify him as St Tarrant — patron saint of the far right.
New Zealand has worked hard to keep the name of Brenton Tarrant, the man charged with killing 51 Muslims in Christchurch, out of the news and to restrict the spread online of the hateful ideology he is accused of promoting.
But the footage, games, memes and messages that still populate the dark corners of the global internet underline the immensity of the task, especially for a small country like New Zealand.

So what does it mean that two of the most prominent young alleged leftists are winning high praise from the performatively heterodox reactionary site Spiked?
Today Spiked published a puff piece interview with skidmarxists Amber A’Lee Frost and Anna Khachiyan, the former an irregular co-host of Crappo Chap House Chapo Trap House; the latter the co-host of the gleefully “edgy” Red Scare podcast. And it’s as bad as one might expect.
The problem isn’t just that these two — and the rest of the skidmarxist gang — are getting a big wet kiss from Spiked, but that they are happy to go along with the whole embarrassing spectacle.
Indeed, as if to prove her edgelord (edgelady?) bona fides up front, Khachiyan greets Spiked interviewer Fraser Myers with her version of the endlessly repeated alt-right joke “I identify as an attack helicopter.”
The disguised man believed to be Schmiemann, a leading figure of the group, read out a declaration saying that Combat 18 felt obliged to go public “due to recent incidents and the media’s cannibalizing of our name for the sole purpose of increasing circulation.”
“Germany has arrived at the point where every citizen is forced to protect himself and his family alone,” he says. “The citizens’ trust in politicians, judiciary, and the media has been completely destroyed.”
Schmiemann spent eight years in jail for shooting a Tunisian-born man during an armed robbery in Dortmund, and while behind bars exchanged letters with Beate Zschäpe, a convicted member of the neo-Nazi terrorist cell the National Socialist Underground (NSU).
The controversy over militant anti-fascism has returned. With #antifa and #antifaterrorists trending on Twitter, there is renewed debate about the tactics of militant anti-fascism.
A police spokesman said the bands didn’t adhere to conditions put in place by authorities for the controversial musical show in the village of Themar, 180 kilometers (111 miles) north-east of Frankfurt.
The band Sturmwehr (Storm Forces) played a banned song, while Unbeliebte Jungs (Unpopular Boys) played a track that was not on the list which they submitted to authorities prior to the concert.
As a result, police banned both groups from performing at “Tage der nationalen Bewegung” (Days of National Movement) until Sunday.

BERLIN — The far-right Alternative for Germany might have managed to lose the Saxony state election before it even began.
Saxony’s electoral commission ruled on Friday that the party failed to properly submit the paperwork, an oversight that could restrict the AfD’s number of seats in the regional parliament, German media reported.
The eastern German state of Saxony is the AfD’s stronghold, and it is polling neck-and-neck with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU) ahead of the election scheduled for September 1.
Public broadcaster MDR reported that the AfD had split its candidates across two lists, which it drew up on two different occasions and later combined into one list of 61 candidates.
London (CNN)A far-right extremist has been locked up in a UK hospital indefinitely after setting fire to a synagogue in the city of Exeter, Press Association (PA) reports.
Tristan Morgan, whom one prosecutor described as having “deep-rooted anti-Semitic belief,” was sectioned under the Mental Health Act at London’s Old Bailey on Friday, after the court heard that he was having a psychotic episode during the time of the attack.
“The liberal idea has become obsolete,” Putin said in an interview with the Financial Times. “It has come into conflict with the interests of the overwhelming majority of the population.” Putin pointed to a range of issues roiling Western polities, from migration debates to financial issues to continued attempts to expand LGBTQ rights.
“[Liberals] cannot simply dictate anything to anyone just like they have been attempting to do over the recent decades,” Putin added. “Our western partners have admitted that some elements of the liberal idea, such as multiculturalism, are no longer tenable.”
Responses to Putin’s claim varied widely. Some analysts described the Russian president’s remarks as misplaced triumphalism; others viewed them as the latest in a long line of attempts to troll the West.
