House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) denounced the use of the imagery in a statement Saturday morning from Germany, where she is visiting troops. “The memory of 9/11 is sacred ground, and any discussion of it must be done with reverence,” Pelosi said. “The President shouldn’t use the painful images of 9/11 for a political attack. // President Trump tweets about Rep. All this to say, Black knows a thing or two about the rhetoric and long-term planning of the white-nationalist movement in America. In the wake of the New Zealand white supremacist terrorist attack that left 50 people dead, it’s worth taking a moment to examine the influence of the far-right in Canada
Hate crimes rising: Reported hate crimes in 2017 rose by 50% to an all-time high, mostly against Muslims.
Armed militia groups: Armed militias like the “Three Percenters” are sprouting up across the country at an alarming rate. Vice reported that Attomwofen, an armed neo-Nazi terror, has a presence in Canada.
Increasing far-right terrorist attacks: The Quebec City Mosque shooter, the Toronto van attacker and the Moncton shooter all subscribed to far-right ideology.

Candace Owens: White Supremacy Is ‘Nothing More Than an Election Strategy’ // Candace Owens called white supremacy an “election strategy” during a hearing on hate crimes and white nationalism before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Owens, communications director for the right-wing organization Turning Point USA, identified herself as a former liberal who has radically changed her viewpoints. During her testimony, Owens said that white supremacy and white nationalism are “words that once held real meaning [but] are now nothing more than an election strategy.” Owens maintained that Tuesday’s hearing should be focused on anti-fascist groups. Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) told her: “I think you’ve caused my friends on the left to go to their safe spaces.”
